Although
Tully’s Call to Orangewood will be his first ordained call, he has had a
variety of experiences working in churches and hospitals in the Atlanta
area over the past 4 years. He comes to us most recently from an
intern position in Youth and Christian Education at Memorial Drive PC,
where he has served for the past 9 months. In addition to his work
experience, Tully has served as a volunteer leader at several camps and
youth conferences. Tully plans to have an Ordination Service at
his home church, in Durham, in January.
In Tully’s Personal Information Form he said, “I would like to serve
a church that is open to receiving the grace of God and willing to share
that grace with others in the surrounding community, nation and world at
large: a place where mission and education are not just individual
pieces of the Christian life, but rather important elements that
permeate all aspects of the congregation.…” Tully also
expressed a love for working with youth by being present in their lives
and helping them to ask the tough questions. He believes that our
youth are not just the future of our church, but a vital and important
part of our Christian community today. He sees himself as an
Associate Pastor for youth not just in the short term, but in the long
run too.
Tully is very excited to be joining us here at OPC, and feels that our
congregation is a great fit for him. He is looking forward to
leading in the various missions and out- reaches of OPC, especially the
Rocky Point trips.
When Tully is not preaching or leading youth group he enjoys outdoor activities like hiking, camping, whitewater rafting, and especially canoeing. He is a fan of college sports, particularly Duke Basketball. Most of Tully’s family lives on the east coast, including his 7 month old niece. He has really enjoyed being an uncle. He will be moving to Phoenix with his 3 year old lab, Elliott. Tully says, “Elliott is the reason I get up in the morning, because if I don’t she won’t stop licking my face.”
